Have you ever tried the bantam bagels from Starbucks? They are my favouite. The everything bantam bagel is the best, to be exact. Anyways, with January rolling in and us on budget lock down, Starbucks is out of the questions. So, I’ve had to figure out a replacement. These Four Ingredient Stuffed Bagel Bombs recipe definitely fits the bill.
My first attempt at these did not work out well, at all. I used a Pillsbury biscuit dough, great for some things, but not in this recipe. This time I used a fresh pizza dough, much, much better! Originally, I had tried flavouring my own cream cheese but it went way too far to the salty side. I could tweak the mix until I got it right, but I needed something quick and easy. I was on Starbucks withdrawal, after all. Armed with my grocery list, my sweet husband headed to the store to track down my new ingredient–flavoured cream cheese.
The recipe is super easy. Just cut the pizza dough into 16 equal squares (more like rectangles) but equal sized pieces, none the less. Cut the cream cheese into 16 equal sized portions and spoon each onto a pizza square. I used Philadelphia’s Garden Vegetable Spread. Wrap the dough around the cream cheese and pinch the seams to make sure it’s completely sealed. Brush each bagel bomb with butter and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
This recipe is so easy, you guys, it’s four ingredients and the only work involved is wrapping the dough around spoonfuls of cream cheese. You can’t go wrong. Considering the different flavours of cream cheese out there right now, you could totally up your bagel bomb game and try a sweet version. Give the Honey Pecan version a try with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on the top. Either way, sweet or savoury or even the good ol’ standby of plain cream cheese, these bagel bombs will be a hit with your family.
We served these with breakfast but you could totally serve them as an appetizer. Watch them disappear off the plate any time of day!
What’s your favourite flavour of cream cheese?
