Course Appetizer, Breakfast
Keyword fried dough, frozen dough, fry bread, two ingredients
Prep Time 3 hours
Cook Time 5 minutes
Servings 4 fry breads

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 Rhodes frozen dinner rolls
  • 2 cups shortening, I used Crisco
  • salt, optional
  • icing sugar, optional
  • jam, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Thaw eight frozen dough rolls, and let rise until doubled in size, about 3 hours.

  2. Press together two dough rolls, and gently work them together until you have one ball. Stretch this out until thin, about a quarter inch in thickness or less. Do this with the remaining 6 rolls.

  3. Heat shortening in a medium frying pan over medium heat. You'll can test if the oil is ready by inserting the handle of a wooden spoon. If bubbles form around the handle, it's hot enough for the dough.

  4. Slowly lower the dough into the hot oil. Let this cook until golden, about 30 seconds. Flip and cook the other side for an additional 30 seconds. Remove and drain on paper towel. Sprinkle with salt if desired.

  5. Serve with icing sugar and jam or honey butter (recipe on the blog)
