Salted Cracker Candy

Just try and stop at one! Salted Cracker Candy is beyond addictive. Buttery caramel is baked into flaky saltine crackers, topped with a layer of chocolate and a generous sprinkle of sea salt, for that sweet and salty combo. It's only four ingredients that you probably already have, but heed my warning, this never lasts long.

After dinner, do you crave something sweet? Ever find that there are only ingredients in your cupboards and zero actual ready-to-eat snacks lying around? Unless you count chocolate chips as a treat. Salted Cracker Candy is ALWAYS my go-to in a pinch. It’s super easy and it is beyond good. Four ingredients to dessert dreamland.

I wasn’t really sure if I’d have much to say about this sweet snack other than it’s obviously easy with only a few ingredients, most of which you likely already have! It’s ridiculously craveable, seriously don’t make this recipe if you’re on a diet, this is fall-off the wagon worthy! It’s flaky and salty from the crackers, there’s the layer of caramel that melts into the crackers, then the layer of chocolate to finish it all off, and if you’re like me and enjoy the sweet-salty combo a quick sprinkle of sea salt. Could there be anything better.

It’s probably a recipe you’ve come across at one point or another. It goes by many names, cracker candy, saltine toffee, skor bars, Christmas crack, and sometimes brickle. I honestly think the word addictive should always precede whatever you call this treat. Addictive cracker candy, addictive saltine toffee, you get the idea.

Now not only is this willpower shattering, and so dang good, it makes a giant pan full. So, you know there’s LOTS to knock you off course, or indulge in whichever way you feel about sweets. I remember years ago babysitting my little cousins and finding a bread pan of this taste treat in the freezer. I couldn’t understand where the rest was. Now as an adult, who is forever battling with weightloss, I realize how ingenious that move was! If you only make a small pan, you can only eat a small pan worth.

How to make salted cracker candy

To make this beloved snack, start by greasing a 9″ x 13″ baking sheet and then lay the crackers down in a single layer. You might have to break some crackers in half to cover the full pan. Set that aside while you make the caramel. In a small pot bring the butter and brown sugar to a boil and let boil for about two minutes, stirring constantly. Pour the caramel mixture slowly over the crackers and bake.

When you remove the pan from the oven, sprinkle on the chocolate chips and let this sit for about five minutes. The chips will melt enough from the residual heat and you’ll be able to spread the chocolate over the caramel and crackers. Finish with a good sprinkling of sea salt. Put this into the freezer for about 30 minutes and then break it apart into small pieces. That’s it.

This cracker candy is literally the best stuff in the world! So easy to make and addictive beyond belief. Don’t believe me? Give this four-ingredient recipe a try today! I dare you to. You’ll see what I mean after one bite!
