I have the Kroger Deli to thank for this recipe. Our family goes through just shy of two pounds of luncheon meat a week. My husband loves the Boars Head Blackened Turkey, the boys and I love honey ham or pastrami if I’m feeling really indulgent (it’s my fav). One busy Saturday morning, I was out doing the weekly grocery run. The line up with a little longer than usual, so I browsed the pre-made sandwiches and there it was Sierra Turkey Cranberry Wraps.
This wrap grabbed my attention at first glance. It’s bright green lettuce, against turkey with pops of red from the cranberries, It just looked so tempting. I grabbed up a container and read the description. Ok, not so hard, I thought to myself. Basic ingredients sometimes make the tastiest combos. I put the container back and walked over to the freshly baked bread. A few minutes later, I found myself back in the deli, holding the wrap again, this time in full inspection mode. I didn’t buy one that day, nor any other day.
But the following day I did go back into another Kroger grocery store, specifically to take a photo of the ingredient list. I pulled my phone out and tried to conceal my sneaky photography, feeling like a kid about to get caught red-handed. No clue why I felt like I was doing something so wrong, maybe because I knew I was about to use their ingredients to recreate my own copy cat version. I apparently don’t feel that bad, because I’m about to share that version with you and it’s delicious!
How to make Sierra Turkey Cranberry Wraps
First, let’s talk for a minute about the Sweet Onion vinaigrette that you’ll use for dipping. This is a must, don’t skip this step. I use this recipe here for the sauce and it takes this wonderful wrap to a whole new level! It’s one of those foundation recipes that you can use for so much more. I actually made this vinaigrette specifically for this wrap, but we’ve used it on different salads, as a dip for french fries and obviously for this sandwich!
The wrap itself is fairly easy to make. I used the Boars Head Salsalito Turkey, it has a nice light kick to it, making it the perfect combo with the rich cream cheese and tart cranberries. Honestly, though feel free to use whichever turkey is your favourite!
Lay your tortillas out and cover each with a generous amount of the flavoured cream cheese, top that with a couple of green lettuce leaves, the cheese, turkey and a sprinkling of the cranberries. Fold the tortilla over the top of everything and pull it back tightly, roll the tortilla along with all the ingredients together until you reach the other side. Add a bit of cream cheese to hold the edge together. Cut it in half and serve it with a side of sweet onion vinaigrette.
With just a few simple ingredients, this wrap comes together and creates one undeniably good bite! A mouthful made only better with that vinaigrette we talked about above. And it’s so quick to throw together. This is a recipe that I wouldn’t hesitate to share if you asked what to serve for lunch. Go with Sierra Turkey Cranberry Wraps, you won’t be disappointed, I promise!
