  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1/4 cup caramel (such as Smuckers ice cream topping)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS

Brown Butter Banana Cake

  1. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat bring the butter to a slow simmer. Cook for about 20 minutes or until dark golden brown and very fragrant. Set aside to cool.

  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  3. Cream together the sugars and browned butter, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Next, add in the buttermilk, mashed bananas and vanilla, stirring until it's all completley combined.

  4. Sift all the dry ingredients together. Pour the wet mixure into a small well in the dry ingredients and stir until combined and smooth.

  5. Pour the batter into a greased 8" x 8" pan and bake for 48-54 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let this cool completely before frosting.

Caramel Cream Cheese Frosting

  1. Using a hand mixer, cream together the butter and cream cheese, add in the icing sugar and vanilla and mix until combined. Pour in the caramel and beat until fully combined and smooth. Spread this over the cake.

  2. Refrigerate any leftovers.
