Stories of a small town Canuck navigating life in the south

Stories of a small town Canuck navigating life in the south - Rainy Lake

Four years ago, I made a giant leap of faith and moved miles and miles away from ‘home’. If you would’ve told me this is what my cards held, I would’ve laughed and said you were nuts! No way was I leaving my quiet life in Northwestern Ontario. It was my definition of perfection, but as the story goes, I met a guy and the rest is history.

Fast forward a few years, I’ve married that wonderfully kind, funny man who brought me here (to read more about our story click here, we have a two year old and a new baby. My definition of home and perfection have taken a severe left turn. Home is no longer a place, it is my family. Perfection, well that’s an illusion, perfect is now all the imperfections this new life brings.

Moving from Canada and leaving my friends and family was tough. I’m still struggling to find my way here in Georgia. Would I change it? Nope, not for anything. Do I wish I had great friends and family nearby? Of course, but the time we get to spend together now, is so rich and fulfilling, we definitely make the most of it. With all the free time and reflection, I’m learning how to fill my days and have turned my focus on our growing family.

And with that, Candy Jar Chronicles was born. It’s a place for me to share my take on motherhood (my favourite journey so far) and marriage. Also making an appearance is my love of all things DIY, as well as, some of our favourite recipes. I recommend the cheesy spinach dip, I have made full meals out of this dip, it’s that good! Rounding everything out is my weight loss journey.

Life is sweet! A candy jar overflowing with great memories!
Stick around, I’m so glad you’re here!

Cheers, Tanya
