Bunny Binoculars
I have been saving empty toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls and egg cartons for sometime now. Not with any particular craft in mind, but knowing that they may come in handy, one day. I had two empty toilet paper rolls on the countertop, in our washroom, and my son instinctively grabbed these and put them up to his eyes and told me he could see me. We laughed together and played I see you, for the next few minutes. Since then, I’ve been thinking we really needed to make some binoculars and with Easter a few weeks away, Bunny Binoculars seemed to be the perfect fit.
Ben loved this craft, he worked away glueing the cotton balls to each of the toilet paper rolls. He concentrated so hard his tongue started to poke out the corner of his mouth, his signature move when it’s serious work. It was adorable. I helped fill in a few holes and took care of any of the hot glueing, much to my son’s disappointment. Oh well, safety first!
We’ve been having fun playing with these Bunny Binoculars. Ben’s been using them to spot things outside from the windows and having eye-spy wars with my husband, which mostly just consists of I see Daddy, I see Mommy, but it’s pretty darn cute!
It’s also sparked a bit of conversation about the Easter bunny. Ben’s just getting to the age where he’s learning and retaining. Last year he enjoyed finding chocolate eggs, but once it was over, it was over. This year, I think he’s going to enjoy every part of it. I can’t wait. His eyes just sparkle with excitement and frankly, there’s nothing better than seeing the wonder in your child’s eyes. Give this simple craft a try with your little ones. I’m sure they’ll have a blast spotting items with their super cute Bunny Binoculars.
How to make your own Bunny Binoculars
Supplies
- two empty toilet paper rolls
- glue gun with glue
- Elmer’s white glue
- foam sponge paint brush (affiliate link)
- paper plate
- cotton balls
- pink pom pom, large
- white jumbo chenille stem (affiliate link)
- scissors
Instructions
- Start by hot glueing the two toilet paper rolls together.
- Add some glue to the paper plate, and using the foam sponge paint brush, brush Elmer’s white glue all over the rolls.
- Let your child get involved and have them push individual cotton balls onto the toilet paper rolls, you may have to give them a hand filling in some holes.
- Bend the white stems into the shape of bunny ears, I used about a foot per ear, bend the ends slightly so you have about a half inch on either side that you can hot glue to the toilet paper rolls. Bend these around the rolls, to help the glue adhere to both the stems and the toilet paper rolls.
- Finish this craft off with a little pink bunny nose, glue the pink pom pom at the crease where the two toilet paper rolls meet.
These Bunny Binoculars are a fun, easy Easter craft for your littles. They’re so simple and your kids will love that they can pitch in and help create their own binoculars. Make sure to break these out for your Easter egg hunt, really what could be cuter than watching your kids hunt for chocolate eggs with these adorable Bunny Binoculars?
