Wonton Wrapped Mozzarella Sticks (two ingredients)
I haven’t met a mozzarella stick I didn’t like. I mean, really, battered and deep-fried cheese, what isn’t there to enjoy? This version using wonton wrappers gives this tasty bite an extra bit of crunch. And with only two ingredients Wonton Wrapped Mozzarella Sticks are easy enough to make any time that ooey-gooey cheesy craving hits.
These are so simple, cut a cheese string into three equal sections and then roll a wonton wrapper around each piece. Folding in the corners to keep the cheese inside, seal with a bit of water and then fry until crispy and golden. Pair them with this Homemade Fennel Pizza Sauce and you’ve got an appetizer that will make you the hero of snacksville.
HOW TO MAKE Wonton Wrapped Mozzarella Sticks
INGREDIENTS
- 6 cheese strings, cut into 3 pieces each
- 18 wonton wrappers
You’ll also need water to seal the cheese sticks and oil for frying.
INSTRUCTIONS
- To start, cut the cheese strings into three pieces each for a total of 18 cheese sticks.
- To make the wonton wrapped mozzarella sticks, place a cut cheese string at one of the corners, roll up until you reach the middle, fold in the ends, rub the remaining corner with a bit of water and roll to seal. Continue with the remaining cheese strings.
- Heat the oil until hot and then fry the mozzarella sticks in batches of about 4 or 5. Cook for about one minute or until golden brown.
- Drain on a paper towel and sprinkle with salt (if desired). Serve immediately with pizza sauce for dipping.
Mozzarella sticks are seriously my weakness, I will sub out fries at a fast food joint for this cheesy treat, every. single. time. I mentioned that serving these with pizza sauce is always a good idea, but don’t stop there these are great dipped in salsa or even with a bit of raspberry jam, so delicious! What are you waiting for? With only two ingredients we can make these as often as we choose, as in, right now!
