2019 Resolutions and the Word of the Year

2019 Resolutions and the Word of the Year

We’re officially into week two of 2019. I still haven’t truly set my resolutions for the year, meaning, I need to write them down. Confession, I’m a list person and of the typical version. You know, the kind that writes it down just to scratch it off. Silly, I know, but there is something satisfying about drawing a line through all those items. This year I’m taking a different approach with my resolutions. Oh, don’t fear, I have the usual resolution. I’ve been working on that hefty weight-loss goal (pun intended) for probably the last five years, and if I’m being truly honest, it’s more of a monthly resolution. I start each month with strong intentions, sigh. This year, however, I’m inviting you along with me on that journey. More on that soon!

2019 Resolutions and the Word of the YearA couple days ago, I read this great article in Family Circle Magazine. It was a list of easy, doable different resolutions and a few really resonated with me. I quickly pulled a couple to add to my own list of resolutions.

So, armed with these new ideas and you know, good intentions. I’m sitting down to set my resolutions for 2019.

My 2019 Resolutions

  • Lose weight
  • Wake up at the same time each day
  • Change my phone wallpaper to something motivational weekly
  • Write tomorrow’s to-do list the night before so I can rest without thinking about it
  • Sit down together at the dinner table for at least one meal a day
  • Start a Sunday brunch tradition
  • Spend more time outdoors
  • Work smarter when it comes to our household budget

So there it is, the goals I’d like to tackle in 2019. Definitely doable and things that I feel will help me grow as a wife, mother and a woman in general.

My Word of the Year

This brings me to my 2019 word of the year. This is something I’ve never done before, but it certainly intrigues me. A word that you choose to define how you’d like your year to go. A word that could describe how 2019 will feel for you. The list of words is endless. My word for 2019 is nurture.

Here’s how I chose nurture for my word of the year. I saw these word-of-the-year posts popping up on different blogs I follow. Then, I came across this blog with a list of 100 potential options. I had started to think of different words that I could use. Success, balance and focus amongst the potential choices on my list. As I scrolled through the list of 100 words. Nurture jumped off the page at me. This is exactly the word I was looking for and exactly how I want 2019 to feel. I want to nurture my children and my marriage. I want to take care of myself and grow this blog.

Nurture is perfect for this year and what I envision for it. This time next year I hope I can report that I stayed on track and was successful.

What’s your new year’s resolution this year? Do you have a word for 2019?
