Easter Pom Pom Garland
In no time, you can whip up this super cute Easter Pom Pom Garland. The pastel colours scream spring and this easy craft will add a sweet, cheerful touch to your decor. Hang this on your fireplace, a painting, the back of a chair. The possibilities are endless. It’s so fun, I can see year-round pom pom garland, in my near future. A new version for each season, I could definitely jump on that band wagon.
I adore the little felt pom pom garlands that have popped up, in the last few years. One day, I might make my own felt, but this year, I wanted a quick craft that fulfilled that felt feel (say that five times fast). So, I started researching yarn pom poms and they’re much easier than I anticipated. So easy in fact, I did this garland in one evening.
If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that, I’ve recently decided to up my holiday decor game. And, that I have been looking for new ways to add some holiday cheer to our home. This Easter Pom Pom Garland does just that. It’s so cute and will add the perfect Easter flair to your home.
What I didn’t want, was to spend hours upon hours on a craft that will only stay out for a few weeks and then get packed away, until next Easter. This garland, however, didn’t take much time at all, in fact, I sat and watched tv, while I made the pom poms. It’s a pretty mindless craft, but you’d never know it. It looks great, and after a long day of mothering, it’s certainly, the perfect way to unwind. Sitting crosslegged on your couch, yarn in one hand and a drink in the other. This craft will come together in no time.
This Easter feels like it’s going to be a memorable one. Our oldest, is two and a half years old and we’ve been talking about the Easter bunny visiting, a lot. Obviously this has stuck, because every few days, he’ll wake up and shout “Mom, it’s Easter!”. He’s so excited, it’s adorable. Meanwhile, our youngest is on the verge of crawling and our out-of-town family is days away from visiting. It feels like big things are in the air.
Because, it’s truly an exciting time in our home, at the moment, having some extra decorations makes everything seem just a little more festive. Do you decorate for Easter? What’s your favourite holiday decoration? I can honestly say, I think pom pom garland may be my new go-to holiday craft!
How to make your own Easter Pom Pom Garland
SUPPLIES
- 5 skeins of yarn (different pastel colours) or whatever you have on hand
- kitchen fork
- scissors
- white yarn to thread pom poms onto
- yarn needle like this (affiliate link)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cut a piece of yarn, approximately 6″ long
- Thread the 6″ long piece of thread between the middle prongs on the fork.
- Holding the piece of thread at the base of the fork’s handle. Start wrapping yarn from the skein around the tongs. You’ll want to hold the tail in place until you’ve wrapped the yarn a few times around the tongs. This should hold, now on its own.
- Wrap the yarn around the fork about 60 times. This will give you a nice thick pom pom.
- After, you’ve got the pom pom wrapped around the fork 60 times. Use the 6″ piece of yarn, that is still hanging between the middle tongs, to wrap around the outside of the pom pom and tie this as tight as you can. Double knot this so it doesn’t come undone. A little trick I’ve found, is to wrap the string around twice before pulling it tight on the first knot. You’ll need about 28-30 pom poms.
- Next, cut the loops that have formed along the edges. This will give you the basic pom pom shape. If your pom poms need a trim, then using your scissors, just cut the yarn to give it a more circular shape.
- Using the yarn needle, thread the white yarn about 12 feet in length through all the pom poms and space them out along the yarn.
- Decorate as you please.
Take an hour or two this weekend and make this super cute Easter Pom Pom Garland. It’s so versatile, and the colours can be changed to suit your decor. Really, anything goes! All in all, it’s the perfect way to add a little pop of colour, that’s perfect for Easter or even just to celebrate spring.
