Jalapeño Hot Honey

There’s no point in dragging this out with a long story, so let’s get straight to the point on this one. Jalapeño Hot Honey is where it’s at! Sweet and spicy, this hot condiment is sooo good! Now don’t read honey and think this is overly sweet, it leans a lot closer to the spicy side, but it’s totally delightful!

My husband and I had a debate the other day about the best dipping sauces for chicken nuggets. He lives in the barbecue sauce camp. Me? I’m all about the honey! How do you solve food arguments in the middle of a pandemic? You put it to your four year old! I’m sure you can guess from the nature of this post that honey won out. And rightfully so! I do have a tasty barbecue sauce you can try if you’re not yet sold on honey!

Why Jalapeño Hot Honey? While that nugget honey combo is delicious on its own. I was sure a little kick could take it right over the edge. The spice is incredible. It’s hot, but if you like spicy then this is definitely something you’ll get on board with, trust me!

How to use this sweet and spicy condiment

So, I’m guessing right about now you’re wondering what else you can use Jalapeño Hot Honey on? The options are endless! Here’s a list to get you started!

• As a dipping sauce for chicken tenders, obviously.
• Drizzle it over goat’s cheese, yum so good!
• Add it to a chicken burger. Hot honey & guac burger I’m looking at you! (La Place Rendez-Vous in Fort Frances, ON)
• Drizzle it on pizza, I’m in love!
• Serve it as a dip for mozzarella sticks, no brainer!
• Add it to french fries or roasted potatoes to give those sides some love.
• Serve it with biscuits or this easy Beer Bread or even with warm soft pretzels, duh!
• Spread it on a grilled cheese sandwich, yes, all the way yes!

How to make Jalapeño Hot Honey

With only three ingredients this condiment is ultra easy! The perfect quick way to elevate your dishes. All you need is some honey, a jalapeño, and a pinch of red pepper flakes.

Mix it all together in a medium pan. You may need to wait until the honey heats up a bit before you can really stir it together. Bring it just to a boil and then lower the heat and let it all simmer for five minutes. Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool for about ten minutes. Once it’s cool, strain it through a mesh sieve and toss those peppers and flakes. Then store it in a jar in the fridge.

That’s it! So easy. If you’re into the sweet savoury thing, I highly recommend this one! Give it a try and see if you agree with my four year old and me. We’re already sold on it, but we can always use extra votes for honey!
